Safety First
New and young employees need extra awareness of working safely
A disproportionate number of workplace injuries occur to employees who have been on the job less than six months and those under the age of 25.
To decrease injuries, employers should …
- Train well.
- Teach how to recognize hazards.
- Give the employee the authority to stop work if he or she feels unsafe.
- Set safety expectations.
- Emphasize you care about safety. That means doing all sorts of little things right to improve risk awareness, build trust and reinforce safe behaviors.
